Food Custom of Tujia Ethnic

The Tujia ethnic minority mainly resides in the border areas in the southwest China. Most Tujias live together in mountains, where there are mainly steep cliffs and little field. Tujias are mainly engaged in agriculture, supplemented with fishery, hunting and collecting. The mountainous living conditions help form their unique dietetic culture, and Tujias live on the products of the mountains.

Tujias usually have three meals a day. Besides paddy rice, maize is also a common staple food. They also eat bean rice.
